Necessity Is the Mother of Creativity!

The birth of my child gave birth to my business. I struggled so much with nursing and sleeping after Silas was born I finally sought professional advice. That was the smartest thing I could have done. I went to a class taught by a nurse who was bursting with creative suggestions and solutions that really worked. Her ideas had been tested by twenty years of new moms, and they saved my sanity. One practical idea was to buy two identical comfort blankets or stuffed animals so one could be in the wash and your child would never miss it. Another is that if you can't take a big, well-loved blankie with you, cut it into smaller pieces. Your kindergartener can tuck a tiny bit of comfort in his pocket.

My son very obviously loved soft and silky textures, and putting his face up against his "mom-made" silkies became the cue to fall asleep. A year later and it's still working! This success inspired me to start crafting all sorts of things mothers might need. I love sharing what I've learned from my baby. And the pleasure I get from hearing how well it works for other moms is so satifying. Because I've been able to find such beautiful and stylish fabrics, people often stop me on the street to ask where I bought them! New moms are so often buried under a pile of dirty laundry, exhausted and unbathed, just having something effective AND glamorous feeds their souls and lifts their spirits.
